Reed Family Donates $30,000 for College Scholarships

Screen Shot 2014-12-11 at 7.51.12 PMThe Reed family is proud to support the community and its youth.  In keeping with the family philosophy and practice of giving back, Randall and Sherry Reed, owners of World Class Automotive Group are donating  $30,000 to the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) Foundation. The gift is in part to honor the 50th anniversary of the educational institution. The The fund is comprised of six $5,000 scholarships for students enrolled in the automotive programs available at DCCCD’s Brookhaven and Eastfield campuses.

In addition to the scholarships, both of Randall Reed’s North Texas automotive dealerships – Park Cities Ford Lincoln of Dallas and Prestige Ford in Garland – are extending preferred pricing privileges now through December of 2015 to students, employees and faculty members representing all seven DCCCD campuses. In total, more than 85,000 people are eligible for the special benefits.

The DCCCD has stood the test of time – 50 years – providing a dynamic educational universe for the residents of Dallas county and beyond.”

Mr. Reed was recently awarded Ford Motor Company’s prestigious Salute to Dealer Award for the impact he and his Planet Ford dealership have had in the community of Humble, Texas. Only six dealers worldwide received the award in 2013.

The Reed Advantage Scholarships

Mr. Reed, who attend but was unable to complete his college career, greatly valued what he learned. From there, he built his career on hard work and natural business savvy. The Reed family applauds and continually seeks ways to support those who are pursuing their higher education.

“Sherry and I want to encourage students, especially those who want to pursue a career in the automotive industry,” said Mr. Reed. “There are so many opportunities available in all parts of the business, but today’s products require someone with advanced mechanical and technological skills. Today’s cars are essentially computers on wheels.”

The $30,000 in scholarship funds are divided into six $5,000 scholarships for students entering the DCCCD automotive programs in 2014 and 2015. Students will be required to submit an application and have the opportunity to be personally meet Mr. Reed and the managing partners of his two Dallas county dealerships. From there they may potentially be identified as future employees for his World Class Automotive Group. Information on the application process is available at www.Foundation.DCCCD.edu.

Buy Smart!”  students and staff only need to show a valid DCCCD student ID or recent DCCCD pay stub.
