15FordMustang_22_HRThe all-new Ford Mustang has been named the ‘Official Car’ of 2014 International CES. The most technologically advanced version of Ford Motor Company’s pony car will take center stage at the International CES®, the world’s largest hands-on showcase of emerging innovation. 2014 International CES, held from January 7th to 10th, in Las Vegas, is owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association®.

“It is very exciting to see an iconic American car like Mustang equipped with state-of-the-art technology,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Automobiles are rapidly becoming mobile technology platforms as consumers demand connectivity along with efficiency and performance in their vehicles.

High-Tech Pony!
Ford has worked hard to custom create and enhance the driver experience. Rather than settling for a one-size-fits-all tech solution, drivers will have the ability to tune their individual car to their unique driving style and to the road conditions. With available Selectable Drive Modes, a new Mustang driver will be able to quickly adjust steering effort, throttle response, shift control as well as stability control by toggling between normal, snow-wet, sport and track modes.

There are also four preset modes, so drivers will be able to fine-tune the steering effort separately with standard, comfort and sport options. The new Ford stability control system can also be set to a less intrusive sport mode or turned off entirely for track use. A few of the standard & available tech features of the 2015 Mustang include:

  • Ford SYNC® connectivity system, with Bluetooth®, two USB ports, enhanced voice recognition for hands-free control and access to SYNC Services, 911 Assist®, Vehicle Health Report and more!
  • MyFord Touch®: Adds an 8-inch high-res touch-screen display, more natural voice recognition with improved accuracy and simplified controls for the available SD card-based navigation.
  • AppLink™: Gives drivers the ability to control more than 60 smartphone apps  using simple voice commands.
  • Intelligent Access with push-button start: Doors and trunk can be unlocked withouta key, and the engine is started with a push-button on the center stack. Up to three key fobs can be programmed to memory positions for mirrors and available power seats.
  • Track Apps: Drivers can gain instant access to acceleration, braking and handling performance data through the instrument cluster screen.
  • Launch control: Manages engine speed and brakes, giving drivers maximum and consistent acceleration at the track.
  • Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support: Automatically adjusts vehicle speed to maintain a safe following distance. When a collision may be imminent, it precharges the brakes and increases the sensitivity of brake assist.
  • Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert: Provides the driver with alerts when changing lanes or exiting a parking space, and has been upgraded with doppler effect radar sensors to provide both improved sensitivity at longer distances and better resistance to false alerts.
  • Individual tire pressure monitoring: Instrument cluster display now shows the tire pressure for individual wheels – a Ford first.
  • MyKey®: Enables parents to limit top speed and audio volume, prevent disabling of driver-assist technologies, and enforce more insistent alerts for safety belt use and low fuel for younger drivers in the family.
  • Rear view camera: Now comes standard.

Chip Ganassi Racing Switches to Ford EcoBoost Power!

SocialNov.2013ChipRacerSwitchesFordEcoBoostTalk about (FORD) First On Race Day! Telca/TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS), winner of seven of the last 10 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype Championships, is switching to the power and fuel-efficiency advantages of the new Ford EcoBoost sports car engine package in 2014.

The announcement came earlier this week during a Ford press conference at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

GGRFS is utilizing the Ford 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost® racing engine for the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (USCC), with Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas returning to pilot the team’s Riley Daytona Prototype starting with January’s Rolex 24 At Daytona race. Pruett and Rojas have combined for 27 victories since 2007.

“We’re excited about Chip Ganassi Racing choosing Ford EcoBoost power going forward in sports cars,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “We believe they will be the perfect partner going forward to work with us to further develop the advantages of our EcoBoost engines.”

Ford’s EcoBoost brand has appeared on various race cars around the globe the past two seasons as part of a strategy to raise brand awareness of the growing Ford line of production engines — now available in 1.0-liter, 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter, 2.0-liter and 3.5-liter versions.

In September, Ford celebrated the building of its two millionth EcoBoost engine. It is now making versions of the award-winning powerplant which is available in 90 percent of Ford vehicles.

Ganassi Racing is one of the most well-known teams in professional racing today, fielding six major entries across the IZOD IndyCar, NASCAR Sprint Cup and USCC race series.

SocialNov2013ChipGanassiRacingTeamEcoBoost2“We are very excited to be switching to Ford power for our sports car program,” said Chip Ganassi. “Over the last 10 seasons we have been able to experience a great deal of success in GRAND-AM and now with the dawn of the new United SportsCar Championship we feel that Ford power will be a key ingredient to writing the next chapter of our sports car program. I can’t wait for the 24 hours of Daytona to get here.”

Ford also  announced as part of its continuing strategy to introduce product-relevant technology into racing, the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost® racing engine would enter the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship series.  Michael Shank Racing is the first team to sign up to campaign the engine, and MSR recently took the engine and the new-look Daytona Prototype car – created with Ford corporate design influence – to Daytona.   There, driver Colin Braun set a new closed course speed record of 222.971 mph, as well as FIA records for standing start 10-mile and 10-kilometer runs. Talk about a power play!

Ford Police Interceptor

Ford Police Interceptor

In a Michigan State Police test, the new Ford EcoBoost®-powered Police Interceptor outran the competition: the Chevrolet Caprice V8 and Hemi Dodge Charger. The Ford Police Interceptor utility with EcoBoost overpowered the V8-equipped Chevrolet Tahoe.

“These tests conducted by the Michigan State Police are an important validation of best-in-class performance in outright acceleration – the most critical measure of police pursuit vehicles,” according to Ford chief engineer, Bill Gubing.

The preliminary test results from the Michigan State Police reveal the fastest of the fast. The 2014 Ford Police Interceptor sedan with standard all-wheel drive came in with a 0-60 mph time of 5.66 seconds. The 5.7-liter Hemi-equipped Dodge Charger with optional all-wheel drive delivered a 6.04 seconds. While the Ford EcoBoost-powered sedan topped the 6.0-liter V8-equipped Chevrolet Caprice. It clocked a 6.01-second 0-60 mph time.

The gap in acceleration increases in the 0-100 mph testing. The Ford Police Interceptor turned a 13.5-second 0-100 mph time, while Dodge Charger delivered a performance of 14.70 seconds and Chevrolet Caprice finished with 14.35 seconds.

The new Ford Police Interceptor 3.5-liter EcoBoost-powered utility vehicle made its debut in Michigan State Police testing, and while competition was close among sedans, the Ford utility left its rivals in the dust. It’s clear to see why Ford has been the the best-selling police vehicle since 1996.

Mustang II Called Unsung Hero in Wall Street Journal Blog

Throwback to 1974 and why the Mustang II is Ford's "Unsung Hero"

Throwback to 1974 and why the Mustang II is Ford’s “Unsung Hero”

Ford Mustang lovers may be surprised, but Ford calls the Mustang II an “Unsung Hero.” The new 1974 design that some may say helped marked the end of the muscle-car glory days was actually a big seller.

While not the most popular of all the ‘Stangs; 40 years later, Ford is celebrating the ’70s version of this American Icon.  The 1974 design was a drastic change from the previous models. It was smaller, economic and a complete deviation from its well-known, hotrod roots.

Weighing in at 500 pounds less than it’s predecessor and 19 inches shorter, the trimmed down version was actually a return the svelte roots of the original 1964-1966 models. The 1973 model had grown large and heavy to some earlier Mustang enthusiast.

Regardless of what people think of this car of yesteryear, the numbers speak volumes. Per a Wall Street Journal article, it outsold other Mustang models and kept the nameplate alive until it could be revived in the 1980s.

What do you think of this ‘Stang of days gone by? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.  To shop online for a new or pre-owned Ford Mustang, visit www.ReedHasIt.com!

Top Used Cars to Buy in 2013

Ford Motor Co. is known for building quality cars, trucks and SUVs. They are made to last and perform throughout their lifetime. So, it comes as no surprise that Yahoo! Autos has ranked three different Ford vehicles as the top used cars to buy in 2013. The 2006-2011 Ford Mustang GT, the 2006-2011 Ford F-150 and the 2007-2011 Ford Fusion were all rated as the top used vehicles in their respective class.

2010 Ford Mustang GT at ReedHasIt.com

2010 Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang GT was the first of its kind to bring back the retro-styled muscle car look. The years selected by Yahoo! Autos, represent two generations of styling for the Mustang, but Ford really hit the nail on the head with both mirroring  ’60s-era styling. Under their long hoods driving will find burbling V8s with an output ranging from 300 HP in earlier versions up to a seriously impressive 412 hp in the ’11 model.

Unlike the cantankerous ’60s models, the modern Mustangs provide a measure of practicality blended with plenty of fun. In addition to sizzling straight-line acceleration, a used Ford Mustang GT will also provide good handling on a curvy road (yes, even with its solid rear axle) along with ample everyday practicality.

2011 Ford F-150 at ReedHasIt.com

2011 Ford F-150

The Ford F-Series has been the top-selling vehicle line in America for over three decades for many good reasons. The F-150 is one of the best examples. It features a large variety of trim levels and cab styles, a comfortable interior with sound ergonomics, communicative and precise steering, smooth power plants and best-in-class brake. There is no match for the Ford F-150.

Fully redesigned in 2009, Ford brought more powerful engines along with styling inspired by Ford’s Super Duty pickup truck line. Regardless of the year and configuration you select, the amazing popularity of the Ford F-series truck makes it  fairly easy to find a used Ford truck that suits you perfectly.

2011 Ford Fusion at ReedHasIt.com

2011 Ford Fusion

Both of the first  generations of the Fusion are represented: 2006-2009 and 2010-2012 Yahoo! Autos selections. The two versions of this midsize sedan offers attractive styling, a spacious cabin, responsive driving dynamics and a solid build. The Ford also offers something rather rare in this segment: a sporty driving personality to go along with its practicality. Ford offers a hybrid Fusion in addition to the four- and six-cylinder gasoline engines. It debuted for 2010, sporting a 39 MPG combined fuel economy rating.

There have been some notable changes over the years. In the 2007 or newer Ford Fusion, front-seat side and full-length side curtain airbags became standard. A factory navigation system and all-wheel drive also became available in 2007. The 2009 model year brought optional stability control — a desirable safety feature. Apart from its refreshed front and rear styling, the second-generation Fusion looks similar to the first, but consumers should take note that this later version of the Ford Fusion has more powerful engines and more standard safety features.
