Ford Mustang Reaches New Heights

mustangspace1The Ford Mustang is making history again as it conquers the final frontier. Not a full-sized Mustang, but a Mustang nonetheless. Two Mustang fans from California, Michael Sego and Steve Kubitz, tackled this task earlier in the month and got some interesting results.

Check out this video of their expedition!

After soaring for over an hour, the balloon obtained a maximum height of almost 21 miles. Six hours later, the team was able to locate their treasure by using a GPS transmitter that was affixed to the shuttle.

“We wanted to celebrate 50 years of Mustang and the impending arrival of the all-new 2015 Mustang by doing something really special,” said Sego. “Mustang has always been about getting behind the wheel and hitting the open road, but we decided to take to the open sky.” This type of thinking is congruent with the spirit of space exploration, which coincidentally began to take shape around the same time period that the original Mustang was created.

mustangspace3Like space exploration, the Mustang aims to instill a sense of discovery, expansion and freedom. Sending the Mustang to space serves as a a tangible representation of these ideas as Ford continues to explore the limits of their ever-popular muscle icon. “More than 9 million Mustangs have been built in the past 50 years, going to virtually every part of the planet,” added Sego. “We’re excited to have been able to take our favorite car to new heights by launching it into space.”

Ford Mustang Goes to New Heights to Celebrate 50th Annivesary

2015 Mustang DeconstructedBig News from the Reed Factor. Ford has done it again! After a month and a half of extensive preparations and planning, the  Ford team has  successfully — for the second time in five decades — displayed the all-new  Mustang atop the observation deck of the iconic Empire State Building.

As part of Ford’s 50th anniversary of the Mustang production, am amazing team of engineers has recreated the infamous stunt that Ford originally took on back in 1964. Ford is once again revisiting the Big Apple — the very place the original model made its debut during the 1964 World’s Fair in New York City. Towering 1,000+ ft. over Manhattan, the new 2015 Mustang continues to make headlines as one of the most iconic muscle cars in America’s history.

Loading onto ElevatorsPony Power

This project was far from a simple task and required a team of specialist to complete the feat. To make this sky-high endeavor come to fruition, Ford turned to its long-time friend in DST Industries out of Michigan for assistance — the same company that helped Ford complete the task 50 years ago. The duo can proudly claim fame for bringing the only car on the observation deck — not once, but twice — in the entire 83-year history of the Empire State Building.

“This week, the band is getting back together as Ford and DST bring the all-new Mustang to the Empire State Building to honor 50 years on sale,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “We’ve taken the new Mustang to new heights of technology and refinement, so we decided to take it to new heights for this celebration.”

Take a look at this video. It shows what it took to take Ford to new heights…

Up and at ’em

The position of the observation deck made it impossible to transport the car by crane or helicopter. To work around this dilemma, Ford’s team is followed a procedure similar to the one used the first time around. They utilized the building’s elevators to transport section of the new Mustang to the 86th floor. After the team performed a critical inspection of the building, they began to plan out the necessary cuts that needed to be made to ensure safe and reliable transport.

2015 Mustang on Empire State BuildingThe team then proceeded to make practice cuts on a Mustang body before cutting, packaging and transporting the the car in specially fabricated crates. After months of work, they are able to see the results of all of their hard work. The Mustang is now on display today and 17th. While we have included a few photos, you can view the full gallery on the Ford Media site by clicking here!

Look out for the 2015 Mustang at ReedHasIt.com later this year. For a full selection of 2014 Mustangs, New Fords and pre-owned vehicles, you can shop and buy from anywhere via www.ReedHasIt.com!

Happy 50th Birthday, Mustang! Talk about ‘stang power.

Randall Reed Dealership Sponsor Box Truck Donations

truck giveaway2Today was a big day for the Randall Reed family. We were part of an amazing community contribution presentation from SpringCreek Church, that worked in tandem with the community and local businesses to raise funds for two 2013 Ford E-350 14-foot box trucks for the New Beginning Center and Good Samaritans of Garland, Texas.

The New Beginning Center, which helps victims of domestic violence and the Good Samaritans of Garland took place at Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford in Garland. This project began as an identified need within the local community for transportation needed by the two non-profit organization. So, Pastor Keith Stewart and Pastor Wes Helm and the Springcreek Church membership body led the way to begin raising funds.

Both organizations also reached out to Katie Koberg, the Community Relations Coordinator at Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford (serving the greater Dallas Fort Worth area), who had sponsored past events for both charities. Prestige Ford was able to locate two new 14-foot box trucks for the project. A wrap and magnets were created for the box trucks to help spread the word about the organizations as they drove around town helping those in need.

Serving in our community provides valuable networks for businesses, non-profits and individuals to connect. If it is serving our non-profits, supporting our local police and fire departments, or working within our school districts, the American dream is accomplished by many more if we choose to work together. I am proud of our community, my staff, and loyalty of our customers.

For the non-profits, the box trucks are more than a mode of transportation; the trucks serve is a lifeline for their charity and its clients.

truck giveaway1“Our ability to pick up food for the nearly 400 families each month we feed every week was a great struggle as we had a simple truck to make the pick ups from the local donation locations. With the new truck, we are better prepared, and more able to serve the hungry in our community,” said Jim Griffin, Executive Director of the Garland Good Samaritans.

“We serve families affected by domestic violence through education, prevention and intervention services and programs. With this truck we are able to do things more efficiently, it allows us to pick up food donations for our shelter and our food pantry, pick up large donations for our re-sale store, and also help our clients relocated to a safer place to live. This gift has a tremendous ripple effect across Garland and the DFW,” said Cindy Turek, CEO of the New Beginning Center.

Both organizations are always looking for additional support and donations so they can continue to help those in our community. “Everybody has gift,” said Mr. Griffin. “We want you to use those gift to help us and others in Garland who are in need.”If you would like to make a food donation to the Good Samaritans, Mr. Griffin says, “We invite you to bring your donations to 214 N. 12th Street at the big white painted sign.” Mr. Griffin points out the painted sign was thanks to the gifts of I am Second Garland High School Students.

The New Beginning Center has a resale shop that is always in need of clothing, household items, children’s items and more. If you would like to make a contribution, Colleen Jamieson, the Chief Operating Officer said any and all donations are welcome and appreciated. You can drop them off at 120 West Kingsley Road in Garland. I would also like to invite anyone with community donations to bring them Prestige Ford located at 3601 S. Shiloh Rd., Garland, TX. We will make sure they get to the specified charities.
